Business Advice: Start-Up and Development

Starting and growing a social enterprise or creating new revenue streams to support charitable objects comes with additional challenges to those faced by for-profit businesses.  We use our experience in starting and operating social enterprises and trading charities to help new social enterprises to get started, guiding established ones through expansion and change and helping charities navigate  governance and skills issues as they seek to develop new revenue models.

Each person’s solution is unique to them and our job is to listen hard and help them find it and then to enable you to make it happen.

Our belief in people drives us and we look to create honest, trusting, and open relationships with our clients.  We listen hard to work out what is really worrying them, and this allows us to challenge old thinking and restrictive attitudes, and to help them open new doors.  On more technical aspects of business, we focus on “teaching people to fish” and finding out for themselves but where the issues are more factual, we will offer guidance and advice. We combine listening with challenge and advice to unlock ideas, remove blockages, and align motivation with intention and energy.

We really enjoy sharing with and learning from people. Its important to make learning fun and we often use role play to help increase understanding and embed learning. Whatever the situation, from large, mixed ability groups to small groups of MBA students, its important to engage the students and mix up the teaching style to maintain momentum and ensure everyone’s learning style is catered for.
