How to make a million jobs
A charter for social enterprise
In this timely and provocative book serial social entrepreneur Colin Crooks makes some startling revelations about the true scale and dispiriting depth of the workless problem in the UK.
Colin is passionate about two important issues. The environment and long-term unemployment. In his book How to Make a Million Jobs Charter for Social Enterprise, Colin reveals the true scale and dispiriting depth of the worklessness problem in the UK. Through unique and powerful personal insights, he shows how profound the challenges are for some of our most vulnerable people. He explains why so many unemployment schemes have failed to address the issue and how, over many decades, we have created what he calls a “letdown generation.” However, the scale of the problem does not daunt Colin, and he suggests ways of tackling it from the grassroots that offer real hope on a large scale.
In How to Make a Million Jobs, he challenges policymakers, businesses, and community organisations to step forward to create 1000 jobs in each of 1000 of our most deprived communities, throwing down the gauntlet.
